Day 15: river valleys are flat
An overcast day but a lovely path 70 Kms in all. Lunch overlooking the river in Ambois and hundreds of cyclists. Some out for the day, others on electric bikes and a few old geezers like us fully loaded. Every time the path leaves the river there is a hill to climb. This is measured by how many chevrons are on the map, one ( a slope of 5-9.9%) is doable, but two is another matter. Luckily we only had one of those today. So steep that we saw some tandem riders retreat and try their luck on the flatter but much busier main road. When we arrived at the campsite it was very quiet so we rode to the next one which was “full “ so we returned to find the first site a little more lively and with the luxury of a lounge for cyclists.
